Ever heard of a Komondor?
One evening we were marveling on the dog that had dreadlocked hair. Thinking that it was a Water Spaniel in need of a de-tangling shampoo, turned out to be a Komondor dog which is under the working dog classification.
Reading further, the long-haired dog turns out to be great and instinctive herder, with or without training.
Most working dogs are overly active and are given to separation anxiety. As far as breeders can tell, the Komondor are affectionate and friendly though reserved when around strangers. The Komondor is a great example of an independent and intelligent pet. Because of its sturdiness, steadiness and calm demeanor this dog is one of the breeds that represent Hungary's canine line.
As we read on, the mystery hair-do is natural and with much awe find out that it prevents Komondors from being severely bitten by wolves when attacking the herd.
