Hammering In The Head

I am a Migraine sufferer and have had episodes where I get close to banging my head on the wall or having my hair pulled off my scalp just for some relief. After a very severe attack that had caused a seizure, I just had to know what caused these attacks which had been plaguing me for 9 years. Distinguishing between a regular splitting headache and a Migraine attack would be identifying where the ache comes from and where it radiates to. A common headache is located at the front or the whole top of the head. These come when one is fatigued, stressful thinking during high fever. Some headaches felt at the base of the skull down to the nape may come about because of stress on the arms and shoulders and improper posture. Headaches can be symptoms of your blood lacking oxygen which may mean faulty blood flow or anemia. Now, Migraine pain is concentrated on one side of the head. The pain is on the throbbing side which radiates to the back of the eyes. Migraine pain is unbearable and may be aggravated by loud noises and bright light.
After physical assessment and describing the pain I felt, I had to recall the day of the attacks and what went on before set in. It was then that the Neurologist identified the transparent tadpoles as my “Aura” or warning that I was about to have an attack. So far the attacks were attributed to severe stress, lack of sleep and reaction to extreme weather. Though I am due for a CT Scan, knowing why and the tell tale signs before my attacks warn me to go on idle to prevent an attack. The Migraine still hurts, yet not as much as when I wasn't listening to my body's warning.
If you're a migraine sufferer like me, never lose hope, there are research and studies that opens doors for relief and steps to tackle the hammering in the head.

Pseudoscience, mind over matter

My sister just e-mailed me a prayer promising blessings if passed on to several people. It sounded like a classic chain letter offer updated in html code. I love my sister but its is her belief in pseudosciences that just make me shake my head and just let her have her fun. In turn I surfed for something to share with her, I came up with a site that had listed generalized personality traits of people according to birth month. The site was interesting and so were the hits and misses in the month I was born in. Personality evaluation using generalization make a big chunk of pseudo sciences which are often depended upon by some people. There are several Pseudo sciences which are quite popular and are sworn by people who have changed their lives believing so.
Astrology and Astrotherapy are basically on the movement of the planets and starts and the necessary character changes needed to balance anyone out if their planet has to “collide” with another- this description is an opinion of mine, no offense. Biorhythms make use of a person's body clock as a guide, I remember my first Phillips Ozeo had this feature and it coincidentally said my ex-husband and I were really not a match. Cartomancy uses  symbolic cards to predict, foresee and advice a person on their future and fate (no sweepstakes or lotto numbers please). Chiromancy deal with health problems which are believed to be caused by misalignment of the spine. An Enneagram reading is something  out  of a child's activity book; connecting personalities with lines within a circle. Graphology is handwriting evaluation, this deals more on the dotted i's, looped t's, slanted writing, baseline of a written phrase and NOT the ones used in detecting forgeries.  Technique and materials used differ yet all guarantee to make your life easier and prosperous.
Reading through every theory makes me feel that people pandering this stuff have life figured out…

Blind Dates at Middle Age

Dating when you're no spring chicken anymore is tougher on women who have been hurt and have the confidence of a peanut. Since it'll be Valentine's Day relatives or friends may have a blind date for you, here are tips I've learned from a professional …matchmaker

With the help of a friend, appraise yourself in front of the mirror. C'mon, being honest with what you have to change always does some good. Overweight? Too much make-up? Style too retro? Bad hair day all days? These are what you have to solve way before the date. Ok so you hate pretending,  but will you own up to giving people the I'm frumpy, boring, not fit for true love, unkempt kind of look? If that's the case, you're the only one in the world who'd not want to be loved.

Take some care in to preparing your outfit. Yes, dress to impress so that your dt ecan see another side you haven't seen of your self for so long. Up date your fashion sense and prepare for your future partner just in case you hit it off with someone.

Research about your blind date so you can read on what he'd interested in and so you'd not talk all night about your cats or the breeding punnet squares all night long. A person who longs for companionship needs a person who can talk about anythign under the sun and not be boring. Middle aged relationship is not as 'HOT' as a younger pair. It is more about companionship and someond to witness the joys of life with you.

While the date is going on, better not to talk about the:
Past- be mysterious, besides your personal life is reserved for those who're genuinely interested in you.
Laundry- very risque topic which may get giggles or the “I can't believe she's talking about this…” stiff smile.
Your pets- UNLESS he is into pets and has some of favorite pet stories to swap.

These tips are guaranteed to work IF you let it, lose that weight, get rid of your frumpy get-up, gain that self-confidence again. You are every inch a gift from God and don't you forget it. As I said dating is tough on the old, but you can never be too old for a good thing.

De-stress This Coming Year

The Holidays are almost through and for most of us who have had to decorate, prepare, organize and cook for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year gatherings it is very much a relief to not be in that state of mind for long.
Like it or not, we just out do ourselves trying to take each year's event a notch higher from the last in the hope your children would weave legends around it for the next generation. As much as we are appreciated, we need to care for ourselves and get that after holiday pampering and year-to-come beauty resolutions to keep.

Clean out that cosmetics bag or box…Keeping old and used make-up beyond its usage life is inviting microbes to give your skin rashes or reactions. The Food and Drug Administration has a table that indicates a beauty product shelf life (www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/cos-207.html ).

Sleep well…most symptoms like headaches, hair-fall or loss, skin break outs and slow healing are traced back to your body's not getting the proper rest it needs. Keeping your sleep at 8 hours makes you more on the go when waking up. Sleep is when your body recovers its physiology, regenerates cells, manufactures blood and breaks down amino acids and absorbs nutrients better. Some who think being able to get on with only 4 hours sleep in their early 20's are often more exhausted and highly strung than those who have had rest.

Wash your face…gravity can not be stopped. Wrinkles do appear and unless we have money to go under the knife the best bet would be clean face. Fight the urge to prick or squeeze pimples that are stress-caused- scars do not go well with wrinkles!

Last would be to do away with the ashtrays in every room and fight the urge and decrease cigarette smoking. Smoking causes more wrinkles and frown lines aside from the risk of cancer and liver cirrhosis. Just like most resolutions, keeping them really depends on how
much you'd want results.

Here's wishing you all a healthy, Happy and Blessed New Year to you!

Training and Communicating with Your Pet Dog

My Uncle had 7 dogs and were all well behaved and trained great, then again he left for several months and put the dogs in the care of an inept teenager and ended up losing several when they escaped. Every pet dog depends on consistency in training. If a pet dog is not taught or trained chances are it would manifest disciplinary problems no matter how loving it is towards you.

One pet dog of Terrier and Chow mix had turned moody and aggressive. Its genes make it noisy and uptight, yet aggressiveness is not written in the cards. The explanation would be the fierce beating it got when a stray dog tried to mate it. Its owner beat it and reprimanded it as if the pet dog knew it was going to get pregnant and contraception was handy! The owners coo and talk as if it were a person and often mete out punishment as if it were as they say a small furry person.

Communicating to your pet and training it properly as breeders and trainers would often than not make your pet live well loved. Remembering the basics and researching for some tips help. You don't have to be an expert to govern your pet dog, do you?.
